Asian cuisine - Tampopo Japanese Restaurant

Tampopo Japanese Restaurant (Ngee Ann City)

When it comes to Japanese food in Singapore, Tampopo restaurant is definitely one of the few places worth frequently visiting. Recently, Hungrygowhere came up with a list of Top 10 Best Ramen in Singapore, and Tampopo Restaurant was the clear winner. It had twice the amount of votes as compared to the first runner-up, Ippudo Ramen at Mandarin Gallery. So Tampopo restaurant is a must try.

Tampopo Tonkatsu Ramen

Tonkatsu Ramen ($15.80), the broth was spicy and flavorful. It’s like having the best of both worlds where you get to enjoy the ramen and their marvelicious tonkatsu at the same time. In comparison with the Tonkatsu ramen, the broth of the Black Pig Shabu Ramen ($13.80), has a much lighter flavor but please rest assured that it was absolutely chewy and tender. Delicious!

Best Ramen Singapore

However, the Cha Soba ($9) from the ala carte menu didn’t seem to be a value for money choice when you could order the Soba & Fried Prawn Box ($16.80) with additional fried prawn tempura, tamago and fruits. Deafenate worth the money The Crab Porridge with Shimeji mushroom ($13.80) which would be a good choice if you want something lighter in taste.

Best Soba Singapore

For desserts, their famous Cheese chiffon cake, Green Tea Parfait and Matcha chiffon cake would be great choices to try out. If you are craving for Tampopo’s cream puff, sorry it is only available at the basement of Liang Court, tampopo deli. Anyway back to the desserts, the Cheese Chiffon Cake ($5.80) was terrific! Soft, fluffy, and spongy, it was like a slice of heaven. Happiness also came in from the Matcha chiffon cake, ($5.80) which was the equal of the cheese chiffon, with the exception of having a green tea flavor.

Asian Cuisine - Evertop Chicken Rice

Chicken Rice is a local delicacy in Singapore. Presenting Evertop Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice, I was introduced to this place by my parents, ever since I was hook on their Chicken Rice.

Of course, their main dish is Chicken Rice. The difference about this place is that, they don't roast their chicken but steam it instead, steaming the chicken is a healthier option rather than roasting them but if you really want the chicken roasted they still have that option.

Besides having Chicken Rice, their sides include a tofu cook in cereal, the taste of this dish is really similar to cereal prawn or some called it Nestum Prawn. It is definitely a thumbs up from me.

Of course they have vegetable side dish like this chap chai.

They are located at

Swiss Cuisine - La Fondue

Like fondues? Enjoy your food being drenched in chocolate or cheese? Then look no further, this restaurant has a menu set around fondues like no other restaurants have ever done before. In addition, because it is Swiss cuisine, you definitely won't miss out on the variety of cheeses they have available!

With its diversity of fondues, it's an interesting idea that little have thought of that a menu could actually be filled with different types of fondues whilst providing different flavor profiles. While its menu can be seemed as a little small, selective menus can due to the chef's choice of sticking to a simple menu so that he can ensure the quality

.

This is one of the cheese fondues that you can order, accompanied with bread, broccoli and cherry tomatos.
So appetizing!

While staying true to it's main idea, the restaurant still serves pasta, soups and main courses that might possibly go well with some of the fondues. Whether it be in terms of textures or flavor, I personally would mix everything with the cheese fondue as I'm a big fan of cheese :D

The chocolate sauces in the Yin-Yang fondue is made dark and white chocolate, the creamy texture that just drenches your marshmallows and bananas in a thick coat of chocolate and when you take a bite, it oozes out. So satisfying!

Basically, the restaurant is pretty self explanatory, fondues with creamy chocolate and cheese sauces which may sound weird in terms of some flavor combinations, but you'd be surprise at the results you might get!

Should the opportunity arise, go and try out La Fondue at:

Italian Cusine - Jamie's Italian

When you hear the name Jamie, rings a bell doesn't it? And if you're thinking what I'm thinking, yes, this is Jamie Oliver's restaurant in Singapore. In June 2013, Jamie Oliver was inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame, which is an institution honoring chefs and institutions that have made major contributions cuisine and food preparation. Currently, Jamie Oliver is hosting a Youtube channel called FoodTube which aims to promote new cooking talents.

At Jamie's Italian the pasta is prepared on the day itself, ensuring it's freshness and quality. Its menu has lots to offer, from your classic raviolis & risottos to the hearty main courses with a rustic feel to it.
Let's begin our Italian journey, shall we?

Jool's favourite Sicilian Tuna Fusilli, a dish that Jamie Oliver's wife personally likes and also a classic version of fusilli, with the Albacore tuna slow-cooked in garlic and cinnamon, topped with crunchy breadcrumbs. What's an italian restaurant without a classic take on pasta? The way the tuna just flakes apart when you cut it and the aroma it contains just leaks out, and fusilli cooked till al-dente, it will fill your mouth with full of flavors!

Next up we've got the Wild Truffle Risotto, after every bite, there will be a lingering truffle taste on your mouth, with the creamy texture of the risotto to compliment the dish. Definitely a dish worth looking forward to having!

The often ordered visually appealing Jamie's Italian Burger definitely has a reason for its popularity, once you hear the combination of Wagyu steak with smoked mozzarella, pancetta and balsamic onions, you know it's going to be good. The nice char marks on the steak and the freshness of the vegetables all just comes together in a single bite.

There are also sweet treats such as Tutti Frutti Lemon Meringue Pie and the  Creamy Panna Cotta, the Lemon Meringue Pie is topped off with crunchy pistachio brittle which outlined the contrast in the flavour of the pie, bringing out the sweetness within the pie itself. Whereas for the Cream Panna Cotta is served with a fruit compote, it has a smooth texture and a certain rich creaminess to it, exactly how a Panna Cotta should be like.

If you're interested in Jamie's Italian, be sure to make reservations beforehand as the queue can get quite ridiculous.
